How it works

A simple process that helps you raise more

Set up your event once. Share one link. Let participants raise sponsorship through their own pages.

Before your first event: get your organisation ready

One time only

Before you can set up an event, you will need to register your organisation on Fun Run UK. You only do this once.

  • Create your account
  • Add your organisation name and profile
  • Connect your bank account via Stripe so funds can be paid to you
  • Confirm whether your organisation is eligible for Gift Aid

Once that is done, setting up events takes just a few minutes each time.

Create your account

Set up your event

Add the details, date, fundraising goal, and entry fee if you're charging one. Takes a few minutes.

Choose the event format: fun run, colour run, sponsored walk, or any other sponsored event. Set a fundraising goal if you have one, and decide whether to charge an entry fee. Once you publish, your event page is live and ready to share.

Share one event link

One page explains the event and invites people to sign up. Send it round, pin it everywhere.

Your event page handles sign-ups, entry fee payments and participant registration in one place. Share it in the school newsletter, on WhatsApp, by email. However your group communicates. One link is all anyone needs.

Each participant gets their own sponsorship page

They can share it with family, friends and supporters in a couple of clicks.

This is the step that makes the biggest difference to how much is raised. Instead of one group donation link, every participant has a personal page with their name on it to share with family and friends. A personal ask from someone they know raises far more than a general appeal.

Supporters sponsor online

Donations are collected securely. No paper sponsor forms, no cash envelopes, no chasing.

Supporters open the participant's page, choose an amount and give in a few taps. On their phone, wherever they are. Gift Aid declarations are captured automatically on eligible donations, worth 25% more at no extra cost to the supporter. No forms to collect, no cash to count.

Supporters can also give via the main event page rather than an individual participant's page. Where possible, the organiser can match these donations to the right participant from the dashboard.

Watch the total grow

See entries, sponsorship and your live total as the day approaches.

Your organiser dashboard shows sign-ups, individual sponsorship totals and the overall fundraising figure in one place. Share progress updates with your group to build momentum as the event gets closer. After the event, funds are paid directly to your group via Stripe.

Why it raises more

Entry fees and sponsorship. Both in one place.

Most sponsored events collect one or the other. Entry fees cover costs but cap what you can raise. A single group donation link raises less than it should because no one feels personally asked.

Fun Run UK combines both. The entry fee gives every participant a stake in the event. The individual sponsorship page gives them a reason to share it.

A group of 120 participants, each paying a £5 entry fee and raising £35 in sponsorship, brings in around £4,800. The same event with only an entry fee raises £600.
